About the course

Medicine24 is the flagship medical conference of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. The two-day conference provides up-to-date information on the optimal management of acutely ill patients within the first 24 hours of admission.

Now in its fourth year, Medicine24 2018 will cover the most common situations that present in busy receiving wards, and include updates in a range of medical specialties:

  • Cardiology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Respiratory
  • Infectious diseases
  • Neurology
  • Renal
  • Geriatric medicine

The 2018 conference will also introduce a new ‘masterclass’ session. This series of workshops offers a more interactive experience, learning directly from the experts.

This year the conference will be held in the prestigious Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, in the city centre of Glasgow. The conference will also include formal dinner, held in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow on the evening of the first day, which attendees are invited to book for.

Keynote speaker

We are delighted and honoured to welcome Professor Dame Parveen June Kumar, Professor of Medicine and Education at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, as one of our special keynote speakers. Professor Kumar is one of the most prominent physicians of her generation and has been known to medical students across the world for decades for the indispensable textbook Kumar and Clark’s Clinical Medicine, which she cofounded and coedited.

Conference dinner

The pre-conference dinner will take place in The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow on Thursday 13 September at 7.30pm for a drinks reception and 8.00pm for the dinner. Tickets are £40 per person (members and non-members) which includes a 3 course dinner and wine.

Poster competition

The Medicine24 poster competition is open for submissions. We are calling for abstracts on a range of topics relating to general medicine and the acute take.  Please visit the website for more information.
