Major incident with multiple casualties is becoming more common in the UK. This includes, but is not exclusive to the rise in terror-related events. This educational day explores what could happen in such an event, how the police and emergency services respond and how the hospitals plan to cope with a sudden surge in severely injured patients. A highly specialised faculty including NATO’s advisor on blast physiology, the Head of Emergency Preparedness, Resilence and Response (EPRR), NHS England, representatives from the armed police and Her Majesty’s Armed Forces, and first-hand accounts from the Manchester Arena bombing of 2017, which will lead you through a wide-ranging list of topics before you have the opportunity to manage your own hospital during a major incident.
