Ultrasound finishing school CORE (Level1)

About the course

Do you need to complete your Core Ultrasound (level 1) sign off?

This can often be done by gathering clinical ultrasound experience at work and getting your triggered assessments done by colleagues. However many people find that it is difficult to get everything completed with all the other pressures in the department. Therefore Finishing Schools have been created as a way of getting everything finished and signed off efficiently.
This Finishing School follows the standard model. On the first day you will be able to practice all four skills under supervision with feedback, add additional scans to your logbook and have your logbook and reflective cases checked.
This course is intended for those who have built up some experience of using ultrasound clinically. It is not essential to have completed your ten reflective cases and filled your logbook before attending. However it is ideal if you have done at least some of this, which will need to be completed before your paperwork can be submitted to the Regional Ultrasound Lead.
On the second day we will be doing triggered assessments in all four clinical applications:

  • Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma (FAST)
  • Assessment of the Abdominal Aorta for Aneurysm (AAA)
  • Focused Echocardiography in Life Support (ELS)
  • Ultrasound Guided Vascular Access (VA)
