Overview

In this course, you will learn about the key components of asthma management, including current and future approaches to the diagnosis of asthma. You will find out more about the management of acute asthma, preschool wheeze and the patient's perspective.

You will also have the opportunity to participate in interactive and practical workshops, focused on case based discussions and assessment tools, as well as looking at psychology and safeguarding.

 

Learning aims, objectives and outcomes

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Identify the key components in the management of asthma including diagnosis and monitoring
  • describe the role of the asthma action plan in the management of asthma in children and young people 
  • outline the importance of adherence to asthma treatments and how to address this issue in practice
  • discuss the role that those involved in a child’s health and well being (including parents, schools, pharmacists, community, primary and secondary care) can play in an integrated care model of asthma
  • feel more confident acting as an Asthma Champion within a hospital or community environment.
