This highly practical one-day course offers a comprehensive grounding in the latest surgical skills and materials involved in implanting cardiac rhythm devices. This course is run in association with the British Cardiovascular Society (BCS) and British Heart Rhythm Society (BHRS)

This course provides core skill competency to all trainees with an interest in implanting cardiac rhythm devices and is suitable for  ST3-8, SAS grades and consultants.

You will cover a variety of topics during this course, including:

  • Principles of wound healing
  • Aseptic technique, gowning and gloving
  • Handling instruments
  • Material selection
  • Knots and how to tie knots
  • Suturing techniques
  • Haemostasis and electrocautery
  • Tissue handling in cardiology
  • Managing pacemaker infection
