This programme aims to impart a robust scientific understanding of burns, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and to equip healthcare professionals (doctors, surgeons, nursing staff and physiotherapists) and scientists with the research techniques and translational tools necessary for research in this expanding field.

Fees note: Fees for flexible, modular study are charged pro-rata to the appropriate full-time Master's fee taken in an academic session.  

Degree Information
Students will acquire both scientific and clinical research skills in plastic and reconstructive surgery, develop the necessary transferable skills (laboratory, critical, synthetic), and learn an appreciation of the needs and requirements of patients requiring this speciality. 

Students undertake modules to the value of 180 credits for the MSc. 

The programme consists of five core modules (75 credits), one optional module (15 credits) and a research project (90 credits). 

A Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits) is offered – Flexible mode only. The programme consists of two core modules * (30 credits) and two optional modules (tbc with programme lead) (30 credits).

Options

Choose one of the following options: 
Nanotechnology in Medicine 
Translation of Nanotechnology and Regenerative Medicine 
Advanced Surgical Skills in Microsurgery 
Stem cells and their applications in Surgery 

Dissertation/report 
All students undertake an independent research project which culminates in a dissertation of 13,000 words and viva.

Clinical staff who undertake teaching include renowned consultants based at the Royal Free Hospital.
