About the course

Providing high quality anaesthetic care in a sustainable healthcare system

For the 2017 RCoA Summer Symposium we have assembled a group of renowned national and international experts who will present on a wide range of topics related to developing sustainable anaesthesia services which respond to the needs of the population, including the management of pain, patient safety, the perioperative pathways and ultimately the patient outcomes.

Social Evening

The Summer Symposium Social Evening will be an informal event (included in the fee for the event), held on the first evening of the Symposium, providing the opportunity to meet the speakers and network in a social environment. There will be drinks, food and entertainment in the Arc and Bar 1 in the same venue located on the mezzanine in a beautiful glass fronted space.

Awards

The following Awards will be presented during the meeting.

President’s Commendation

Introduced in 2011, this is awarded to those who have provided sustained or specific contribution to the College.

Macintosh Professor

This prestigious lecture and title is awarded on the recommendation of the Board of the National Institute for Academic Anaesthesia (NIAA). It is in recognition of outstanding contributions to the wider field of anaesthesia in a senior academic or clinician. In the case of an academic it would normally be at a senior lecturer level. The delivery of the lecture will be at a suitable scientific meeting and the title of ‘Macintosh Professor’ is bestowed for one year from the date of Council’s approval of the award.
