This world-leading programme will equip you with the latest knowledge and experience in this expanding field by exposing you to emerging technologies such as issue engineering and biomaterials, 3D printing, stem cells and advanced therapies, and reconstructive transplantation, hands on microsurgery skills. You will be taught by expert academics and surgeons from the field and develop key clinical research skills.
Who is this course for?
This programme is ideally suited to trainee plastic surgeons, clinicians, scientists who wish to specialise in plastic and reconstructive surgery, and healthcare professionals. It also provides you with an excellent foundation for further research either at MD or PhD level or for a career as a clinician or healthcare professional within this surgical or related speciality.
Teaching and Assessment
The programme is led by Professor Peter Butler and Dr. Kalaskar who are renowned leaders in their fields, alongside a specialist cohort of consultants and scientists from across the reconstructive specialties from the Royal Free London Hospital, University College London Hospital, Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, Imperial College Hospitals, and Birmingham University Hospital. Consultant plastic surgeons from both military and civilian backgrounds present lectures, giving you access to one-on-one contact and a multitude of networking opportunities.
This programme is designed to help your career progression by acquiring both scientific and clinical research skills in plastic and reconstructive surgery. You will develop the necessary laboratory, critical and synthetic skills to excel, and learn an appreciation of the needs and requirements of patients requiring this specialty. On completion, graduates find they are in a better position to find placements due to the wide exposure they have had to emerging technologies and newly developing surgical skills. You will also have an excellent foundation for further research either at MD or PhD level or for a career as a clinician or healthcare professional within this surgical or related specialty.
