About the course

Outdated health policy risks the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities. The University of Glasgow understands the importance of this and has been teaching public health education since 1893. Over this time, we have been able to develop a programme that puts an emphasis on original research, psychosocial and international approaches to public health and, with our close ties to the NHS, we help develop the key skills needed for a successful career in public health.

Choose your own path

Our online programme allows you to choose a route of study to match your interests or career goals. Because of the multidisciplinary nature of the programme, you’ll benefit from sharing these interests and unique experiences with students from other healthcare programmes:

Online Masters in Public Health

This programme aims to promote health, prevent disease, reduce inequalities in health, and prolong life. The University of Glasgow places great pride and importance in our original research. It’s because of this that our faculty have been at the forefront of numerous recent public health interventions, including Scotland’s smoking ban.

Online Population Health Sciences

The programme offers a unique opportunity to understand how physical and social environments, individual behaviour, the distribution of resources and investment and genetics impact on the health status and inequalities in populations over time. You could study optional courses, such as advanced statistics, which allow students to gain a greater insight into the data and provide more thought out solutions. The MSc Population Health Sciences will equip you with the practical skills that are integral to careers in public health, health services, health policy or academia.

Online Primary Health Care

By elevating primary care concepts, this 100% online programme gives professionals looking to advance their career the ability to propose, develop and implement sustainable strategies within a healthcare system – all to help address rising rates of chronic illness and complex care needs globally. The MSc Primary Health Care will equip you with the knowledge and skills required to make a difference to primary healthcare in the 21st century.

100% online, interactive learning

Studying online means you don’t have to sacrifice your current career in order to pursue a new one. With industry-lead teaching and cutting-edge research, you’ll be able to study the entire programme without having to set foot on campus. You would be able to access our interactive resources from anywhere and at any time; this includes live seminars, audio, video, discussion areas, and more - whatever helps you achieve their career goals. Once you’ve started the programme, we won’t leave you to it. We’ll always be on hand to help you, all the way through to graduation.

Ranked 1st in the Russell Group for teaching (NSS 2018), the University of Glasgow offer a flexible programme that can be tailored to meet your specific requirements. Whether you want to study an MSc, a PgDip or a PgCert, or choose your duration of study between 1 and 6 years; at the University of Glasgow you can further your ambitions without compromising your current commitments.
