Faints, fits and funny turns for the physician

About the course

‘Doctor, I came over all dizzy!’ is a frequent complaint. More than 40% of the adult population aged over 40 years experience symptoms of dizziness, imbalance and/or blackouts.

These symptoms are the most common reason for patients over the age of 65 to visit a doctor and are a major cause of falls in the elderly. Acute dizziness presents a diagnostic dilemma often resulting in over investigation, unnecessarily long stays in hospital and inappropriate treatment.

Despite their being so common, doctors are often poorly trained in the diagnosis and management of the conditions presenting with these symptoms. This clinically-focussed conference will help delegates to develop a practical approach to managing this large and challenging patient population.

The medical conference aims to be of value not only to acute physicians but also to those in primary care and in care of the elderly where ‘dizziness’ and falls are prominent complaints and correct management can significantly reduce morbidity.

Specialists will lead delegates through typical case-based presentations relating to dizziness and imbalance.

A full programme will be available soon.
