About the course

Develop a high performing workforce fit for the future.

As our population grows, we don’t just need expert clinicians. We need world-class educators to secure the sustainability and growth of our workforce enabling us to provide effective care for future generations.

Created in collaboration with the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and accredited by the Academy of Medical Educators, the PG Cert in Medical and Health Education will give you a rare opportunity to focus on teaching in your professional development and play a crucial role in educating the practitioners of tomorrow.

This Postgraduate Certificate is designed to make it easy for you to fulfil your ambitions and enhance your career while continuing day-to-day work as a busy practitioner. The course is delivered exclusively online which means you can fit it around your life with no need to travel to attend lectures or seminars, or keep to a strict timetable.

Online doesn’t mean you’ll be working alone. You’ll have opportunities to collaborate with peers and academics through our highly interactive teaching model involving group work, sessions with your tutor and informal support group chats, in addition to a comprehensive virtual learning environment.

The flexibility of this course means you can adapt it to suit your needs. You can choose to complete all four units – usually over the course of a year – to receive a PGCert, or opt to take one or more as standalone CPD units.

Course Units:

  1. The Reflective Educator
  2. The Art and science of Teaching
  3. Pass or Fail, Who Decides?

You will be expected to study a minimum of 20 hours a week.

The next intake is February 2022.
