FAMUS – Ultrasound for Acute Medicine 25th March 2022
Provided by Bromley Emergency Training and Research Ltd
About the course
Focused Acute Medicine Ultrasound (FAMUS) is the point of care ultrasound standard created specifically for Acute Medicine physicians to aid the management of the acutely unwell adult patient. It is endorsed by the Society for Acute Medicine and recognised by the AIM training committee as a specialist skill.
Our one-day course has been approved by FAMUS and it contains all of the components required in the course. These are:
FAMUS syllabus and accreditation process, basic ultrasound physics and knobology, thoracic, abdominal/renal, and DVT/peripheral vascular scanning.
In addition we include an introduction to ECHO including practical experience of cardiac scanning. This does not form part of the FAMUS curriculum. However it is a popular component.
There will be lots of scanning practice as in addition to group work there are a number of other devices available to use, including hand-held devices, scannable manikins and a simulator.
