About the course

Our MSc and PGDip programmes are designed as a curriculum in gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition. You can choose between attendance-based or online learning for either programme.

We have expert teaching staff. Many of our clinical academics are internationally recognised in their fields and include researchers in adult gastroenterology (IBD, neurogastroenterology, coeliac disease, GI genetics, intestinal failure, tropical gastroenterology), adult hepatology (hepatitis, NAFLD), GI surgery, and paediatric gastroenterology (clinical trials, IBD, endoscopy, intestinal failure). Non-clinical academics and scientists include experts in immunology, genetics, cell biology, GI physiology and GI pharmacology.

You will gain knowledge and understanding in both basic science and laboratory and clinical research techniques.

You will study:

  • the basic science of gastroenterology
  • clinical manifestations of common complaints of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract
  • current and future options and techniques for diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and nutritional disorders
  • principles of research including literature review, forming of hypothesis, planning and completion of methods, analysis and discussion of data.
