Principles of Managing Hand Fractures and Fracture Fixation Course
Provided by Doctors Academy
About the course
This hybrid course will discuss the principles of managing hand fractures and the fixation of fractures. The theoretical component of the course will be delivered via Zoom on Thursday 10th November 2022 (1800-2100 hours), and the practical component will take place at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Cardiff, Cardiff Bay on Sunday 13th November 2022
(0830-1800 hours).
Delegates will participate in small group practical workshops on metacarpal plating, metacarpal lag screw fixation, proximal phalanx plating, proximal phalanx lag screw fixation, and interfragmentary screw fixation. Delegates will also have the opportunity to create their own fractures on the sawbones and try various fixation methods.
Practical Sessions:
Plate fixation of metacarpal
Lag screw fixation of metacarpal
Plate fixation of proximal phalanx
Lag screw fixation of proximal phalanx
Inter-fragmentary screw fixation of intra-articular fractures
The theoretical component held via Zoom will outline the principles of fracture fixation and approaches to hand fractures.
