Functional Neurological Disorder

About the course
About the Course
Functional symptoms are common, representing about one third of the workload of most doctors. Despite this, the cause, generation and management of the condition is poorly taught and inadequately addressed in medical training. The topic receives scant attention from national guidelines, though it is acknowledged in NICE guidelines NG127.
This course is presented by Prof Richard Grunewald, Consultant Neurologist Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Rebecca Murray-Leslie, Psychotherapist Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, who have been active an innovative in this field for the last 25 years, providing a clinical service for patients with non-epileptic attacks and other functional neurological symptoms during that time.
After attending this course, delegates will be able to…
• Understand the clinical features of FND
• Distinguish the subtypes of FND
• Provide an explanation to the patient with the condition
Suitability
This course offers 3 CPD points and is suitable for clinical staff with an interest in non-organic illness, including doctors, nurses and therapists.
Testimonials
“Excellent centre. I would recommend them wholeheartedly.”
“The course was great and well organised, from the emails beforehand to the event day. Admins would reply when required and I would feel confident going to another ASC event in the future.”
