About the course
Earn 6 CPD points from attending this conference.
The topic for the President’s Conference this year is Confronting Obesity – Challenges, Prevention and Treatment. Rates of obesity continue to rise in the UK and across the world, alongside increasing health and social inequalities which have a proven impact on the ability for people to lead healthier lives. Our aim is to provide healthcare professionals, who are on the frontline of addressing this issue, the insight to ensure the best possible outcomes for their patients.
This year’s President’s Conference will provide clinicians with the most up-to-date understanding of obesity. Our national and international experts will present sessions which analyse what drives obesity and overweight, including associated health outcomes, as well as the effective prevention measures and treatment available.
Sessions at the President's Conference will include:
- Prevalence and causes of obesity: environment, genetics and economics.
- Innovative approaches to obesity prevention across the world.
- What can clinicians offer as a solution. Discussion of lifestyle changes, the use and effectiveness of weight-loss drugs and surgery.
- Tackling stigma around obesity and lived experiences.
- Clinical consequences on anaesthesia, paediatrics, mental health and obstetrics.
- Looking ahead: Analysing our food system, climate change and the future of treatment of obesity.
