Basic Surgical Cadaver Skills (BaSiCS)

About the course
This course is aimed at CT1/ST2 level and will cover areas of the ISCP curriculum required for entry to ST3. Candidates need to have previously undertaken a Basic Surgical Skills course.
You'll gain hands-on experience using fresh/frozen cadaveric material. Topics will cover:
- Laparotomy
- Laparoscopy
- Laparoscopic/ open appendicectomy
- Inguinal hernia repair
- Small bowel resection/ anastomosis
- Approach to the femoral artery
Attending the course:
This course is a cadaver course. That means you'll join us at the Clinical Anatomy Skills Centre, located at the University of Glasgow.
The centre is located on the university campus in the West End of Glasgow.
The closest train station from Glasgow Central or Queen Street is Partick, which is around a 15-minute walk from the centre.
Hillhead and Kelvinbridge subway stations are both within walking distance of the university.
There are regular buses from the city centre to University Avenue, Traveline Scotland can help you find the best route.
Parking on or around University Avenue can be quite limited, though there is some available. If you require disabled parking, you can make a request to the Disability Services team at the University of Glasgow.
