About this course

Develop advanced scientific, research, and transferable skills required to become an independent researcher in Biomedical Sciences. This course is for Biological sciences and Biomedical Sciences graduates who want to enhance their skills and knowledge before committing to a PhD or a wide variety of careers such as academia, industry, policy, or science journalism.
You’ll work within our vibrant research community that harnesses the University’s expertise in translational science. The outstanding clinical infrastructure and enterprise enable the translation of our pioneering research for patient benefit.
You'll study a variety of different modules and complete two research projects which will focus on one of the following research areas:
  • infection and immunity
  • nutrition and metabolism
  • respiratory medicine
  • stem cells and regenerative medicine

As part of the course, you'll also:

  • undertake two, 18-week research projects
  • gain a large range of practical research skills
  • experience working in different research environments
  • use our state-of-the-art research facilities
  • develop transferable skills that enhance employability

You will also be able to use our research facilities such as:

  • Centre for Human Development and Stem Cells Regeneration (CHDSCR)
  • Institute for Life Sciences (ifLS)
  • Biomedical Imaging Unit (BIU)

    Tuition fees

    Fees for a year's study:

    • UK students pay £13,000.
    • EU and international students pay £27,800.

    If you're an international student on a full-time course, we'll ask you to pay £2,000 of your tuition fees in advance, as a deposit.
