About the course
This six-week online course equips healthcare managers with the skills to design and implement effective health policy reforms. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of health policy, law, and change management, enabling them to guide their organisations through reform processes.
Course Objectives:
- Understand the principles of health policy and law and their applications.
- Evaluate health policy interventions using health services research.
- Embed reforms within your organisation through change management techniques.
Who Should Apply:
This course is for managers across the health and healthcare sectors who are responsible for health policy and practice, including those in human resources, clinical settings, policymaking, or healthcare management. It is also suitable for those in health-related industries seeking expertise in health policy.
Programme Curriculum:
Delivered in three modules over six weeks:
- Health Policy and Practice
- Health and the Legal System
- Change Management
Each module requires 10–12 hours of weekly activities, including:
- Online lectures (live and pre-recorded)
- Reading assignments
- Discussion forums
- Marked projects
Weekly live sessions provide opportunities for interaction with instructors and peers.
Assessment and Certification:
Completion of all marked assignments, including discussion forum contributions and a final project, earns participants a certificate and CPD points awarded by The CPD Certification Service. Self-reflection exercises and quizzes help consolidate learning throughout.
Learning Outcomes:
By the course’s end, participants will:
- Understand health policies, laws and reforms.
- Evaluate the impact of health policy and legal interventions.
- Understand the roles of different stakeholders in shaping healthcare law and practice
- Use change management approaches to implement reforms effectively.
- Anticipate and prepare for future policy shifts.

- Professor Nora Ann Colton: Director of the UCL Global Business School for Health, with expertise in leadership, change management, and global health economics in the MENA region.
- Suzanne Wait: Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Health Policy Partnership, with over 20 years of experience in health policy research, analysis and advice, working globally across all health sectors.
Entry Requirements:
Fluency in English is required. A degree or interest in healthcare policy and law is recommended.
