Course overview

Who this course is for

This CPD is exclusively for members of The British Cosmetic Dermatology Group who are registrars on a training rotation or consultants. As this course is exclusively for BCDG dermatologists, a certain level of prior knowledge will be assumed. Due to high demand for this course places are limited and are allocated by the BCDG to carefully selected members.

Through this course, we’ll equip you with the knowledge, expertise and skills needed to refine your practice and provide clinical excellence in cosmetic dermatology. You’ll learn how to emphasise patient care, and the latest evidence-based approaches to assessing and formulating strategies for a patient undergoing treatment with injectable devices.

This course is also a stepping stone to setting up your own practice specialising in procedures such as botulinum toxin, dermal fillers and lipolysis. Studying the CPD Injectables in Aesthetic Medicine (BCDG) will ensure you have the competitive advantage in a growing field by providing the high-quality care that only clinically trained professionals can.

What you will learn

  • Develop an in-depth, critical understanding of facial anatomy and morphology of ageing changes.
  • Recognise evidence-based approaches to assess both clinically and psychologically a patient requesting treatment with injectable devices including botulinum toxin, dermal fillers and lipolysis.
  • Gain an understanding of service user and carer perspectives to apply to your practice.
  • Obtain expertise in post-treatment review and assessment plans based on an in-depth knowledge of patients’ emotional and physical needs.

Where and when you will study

In this course, you can enjoy the freedom to study flexibly and at your own pace. You will study online and have the chance to attend a practical day on completion of the online course. Online learning materials will consist of a mixture of video and audio files, alongside written text and instructions accompanied by interactive engagement activities and tasks. You will be assigned a mentor who will be an experienced clinician and BCDG member. You will have three meetings with your mentor, held either remotely or in person, and each meeting will cover 10 injectables cases. In these sessions, you will be able to seek advice and discuss problem cases as well as any possible complications.

How it will benefit your career

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be recognised by the Joint Council of Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) to be eligible to join the JCCP register. This will confer a year of membership of the JCCP free of charge. With this recognition, you can confidently provide a wider variety of aesthetic treatments and cosmetic dermatology in line with industry best practice.
