This course is part of the RCOG Core Knowledge series.

This course aims to familiarise you with the tools for critical assessment of research evidence on the effects of healthcare interventions.

Please note that this course may go beyond the knowledge required of MRCOG Part 2 candidates and would also be useful for post-MRCOG trainees and consultants.

  • appraise a scientific paper and clinical guidelines
  • use critical appraisal skills and apply these when reading literature

  • describe the development and application of clinical guidelines, integrated care pathways and protocols.
