Safety of operative interventions, postoperative recovery and long term results depend to a significant degree on perioperative care. Adopting a structured approach to patient selection, organising preoperative investigations, patient counseling and consent, planning of surgery and execution of the plan are important skills gynecological surgeons should possess in order to achieve an optimal outcome of surgery and high patient satisfaction. These skills are built by studying current evidence-based practice and developing an appropriate approach.

This course is developed with the aim of helping you explore current evidence in the preoperative management of gynaecological patients. This will allow you to assess and proactively minimise risks and complications, enabling you to develop and monitor an appropriate plan for reducing risks.
