About the course
This course is part of the RCOG Core Knowledge series.
This course will provide you with the knowledge to enable you to perform basic ultrasound examination in pregnancy, in conjunction with the basic obstetric ultrasound curriculum modules.
When you have completed this course you will be able to:
- understand the theory behind ultrasound including basic physics
- describe different types of ultrasound modalities and their uses
- optimise your images
- describe issues surrounding patient safety
- use your knowledge to approach diagnostic problems

Alexandra Emms is a senior Obstetrics and Gynaecology Trainee in the West Midlands, with a specialist interest in Fetal and Maternal Medicine.
Dr Christina Aye MRCOG DPhil (Oxon) (2019)
Christina Aye is a Subpeciality Trainee in Maternal Fetal Medicine and an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
