About the course

Tauma-informed care (TIC) is a hot topic and has been described as a paradigm shift for psychiatric services (British Journal of Psychiatry & World Psychiatric Association, 2020; Sweeney et al, 2019; Ford & Courtois, 2021).

This module will add to your knowledge of the psychophysiology and immunology of trauma. It will help you avoid retraumatisation and assist co-production with patients receiving needs-led treatment and recovery plans.

An increased awareness of trauma, combined with effective strategies for working with patients who have experienced it, can support the clinician in feeling effective, thereby reducing the risk of compassion fatigue.

Trigger warning : the contents of this module may be difficult if you have experienced trauma, and we gently remind you to revisit your usual self-care strategies as you complete it.
