About the course

In this module, we will help you develop your understanding of trauma-informed care according to the ‘four Rs’ (SAMHSA, 2014), which focus on:

  • realising the prevalence of trauma in mental health settings
  • recognising signs and symptoms of trauma
  • responding to trauma with effective interventions
  • resisting retraumatisation.

We will further explore the psychophysiology of trauma, presenting a strengths-based approach to formulation, treatment planning and care. Finally, we will present a psychophysiological approach to assessment and treatment.

Trigger warning : the contents of this module may be difficult if you have experienced trauma, and we gently remind you to revisit your usual self-care strategies as you complete it.
