About the course

In prisons, there are high levels of mental disorder and an expanding population. It is an area of psychiatry where psychiatrists may have limited clinical experience.

Prison psychiatry falls on the border between forensic and general adult psychiatry, although specialist skills are useful, e.g. in intellectual disability.

This CPD module aims to provide an introduction to prison and prison mental health services.
