The programme connects you to the most current ophthalmic clinical and research expertise.

Why study the Ophthalmology MSc at UCL and Moorfields Eye Hospital?

The Ophthalmology MSc provides an in-depth engagement with the study of Ophthalmology in a contemporary clinical and research focused context. Modules cover core ophthalmic subspecialties such as glaucoma, cornea and external disease, neuro-ophthalmology and strabismus, and medical retina.

The relationship between the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology and the world-leading Moorfields Eye Hospital offers an unparalleled access and engagement with staff from both institutions. You will be taught by expert Consultant Ophthalmologists based at Moorfields Eye Hospital, ranked as the world's best eye hospital (SCImago Institutions Rankings 2024), and world-leading researchers from UCL, ranked 9th in the world (QS World University Rankings 2025).

The majority of in-person teaching will take place at Moorfields Eye Hospital. All students on the programme are also encouraged to attend in-person enhancement activities, over a two-week period in the summer term (typically in June). Activities include sessions on developing clinical skills, surgical skills, wet labs, observerships at Moorfields and other networking opportunities.
